Intrarom announces the implementation of the first Smart City pilot

The pilot project was implemented within the Alba Iulia Smart City 2018 project, part of the city's development and promotion policy.

Intracom, the Romanian subsidiary of Intracom Telecom, announces the successful implementation of the first Smart City pilot in Romania, in Alba Iulia.
The pilot was launched at the "Smart City - Alba Iulia 2018 National Debate" event, held in Alba Iulia on 8-9 October and organized in collaboration with the Alba Iulian municipality, in order to promote and support the concept of intelligent community in the context of celebration of the Romanian centenary.

The event recognizes the involvement and efforts of the municipality, government bodies and companies for the development of the Smart City community in Alba Iulia, being the first such initiative in Romania.

Together with the Alba Iulia Smart City project team, guests from all over the country and the participants at the event watched and tested, together with the representatives of Intrarom, a series of Smart City solutions that revolutionize the infrastructure of Alba Iulia.

INTRAROM provides the municipality with a comprehensive intelligent lighting solution that combines the efficiency of LED technology with the benefits of a multifunctional communications gateway and facilitates interconnection with an impressive number of IoT (Internet of Things) equipment and sensors. More specifically, the solutions implemented by Intrarom in the parking lot in front of the Alba Iulia stadium consist of a number of LED lighting poles with multiple components.

Equipped with multifunctional sensors, the poles integrate features that provide intelligent parking, environmental and noise level monitoring, traffic monitoring, SOS alarm, and free Wi-Fi connectivity for people in the area.

All of the equipment and services described above are managed on the company's integrated ioT (uiTOP) orthographic platform, which integrates them through open APIs, providing a 360-degree view of all connected smart devices, allowing for complete and control of city operations and services.

The platform does not contain any limitations or restrictions on equipment manufacturers and allows the integration of different solutions that support multiple connectivity technologies between intelligent ecosystems in continuous expansion.

Mr. Nicolaie Moldovan, City Manager Alba Iulia, said: "Some of the good ideas tested in the pilot project are already in projects of tens of millions of euros that the City Hall of Alba Iulia has deposited for financing and for which I beat at the doors the management authorities, especially the one managing the regional development program, and have submitted two smart lighting projects in the main areas of the city and the third is in preparation for funding. If all the projects were approved for funding, we would have 70% of the city's surface covered with smart lighting ".

Mr. George Roussos, Intrarom Executive Director, said: "With this pilot deployment we demonstrate the holistic approach of the Smart City concept and offer the local community the opportunity to test the added value of our multifunctional devices. Intrarom's Smart City offer addresses the critical aspects of the urban environment in a comprehensive way through the use of a smart, intelligent platform that enables the transformation of existing public lighting infrastructure into an intelligent network. We look forward to contributing our offers and expertise to future Smart Cities projects on the Romanian market. "
