CBAM is one of the objectives of the EU's strategy to reduce greenhouse effect gas emissions. Among other objectives, CBAM was introduced to approach the risk of carbon emission relocation, create a level playing field that facilitates fair competition with products from outside the EU, ensure a stable policy framework for EU investments in low-carbon technologies, and encourage third-country importers into the EU to adopt low-carbon technologies.
