Over the last 25 years, estimates have been advanced, both officially and unofficially, about the size of Romania's underground economy, which have reached 30-40% of GDP. The problem with these figures has always been the source and quality of the information on which to obtain a result as close as possible to reality, which is why estimates have always been talked about. The fact is that, at this moment, technological advances and a rapid evolution of European and Romanian tax legislation have forced the black and gray economy to retreat.
