Smart Alliance - Innovation Technology Cluster sets the foundation for the development of a consortium aimed at innovation through digitization in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South-Muntenia regions

Smart Alliance - Innovation Technology Cluster and its partners, USH Pro Business and Elinclus, founded the first center for innovation through digitization, called Smart eHUB - Digital Innovation Hub, in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South-Muntenia regions.

The consortium is designed as a network of innovation centers through digitization to be developed in a collaborative ecosystem focused on the interaction of all those who can contribute to innovation using new technologies of virtual space.

The goal of this innovation and digitization center is to become the leading provider of digital services capable of providing private sector companies and public institutions with the best expertise and skills in digital transformation technologies such as: data processing, IoT, IIoT, industry 4.0, M2M, artificial intelligence, electronics, robotics, cloud computing, laser technologies, 3D printing, blockchain, spatial or geographic information systems and others.

"We are very proud to have created this consortium that aims to find solutions that respond to the immediate need for innovation and digitization intervention in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South-Muntenia regions. Our goal is to help companies in the region adopt digital technologies to grow at a faster pace and become more competitive locally and globally, "said Emanuela MODORAN, CEO of Smart Alliance - Innovation Technology Cluster.

Smart eHUB – Digital Innovation Hub is a European-supported project initiated by the Smart Alliance - Innovation Technology Cluster together with the USH Pro Business partners and the Elinclus Cluster who have made efforts to demonstrate the need for a "Digital Innovation Hub" in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South-Muntenia regions. The main obstacle for the legal entities in this region in the internal transformation process is the know-how and access to innovative and digital technologies. The Innovation and Digitization Center Smart eHUB – Digital Innovation Hub has as main purpose the elimination of these obstacles that prevent companies in the region from becoming more competitive.

"The partnership we are creating comes at a time when we have a digital paradox: we have companies that are spearheads in information technology, we believe in digital transformation but at the entrepreneurial level even companies that sell such solutions do not have digital strategies. Our university already has a consistent business ecosystem in this region, consisting of legal entities, clusters, or technology transfer centers, has a specialized faculty, has partnerships with companies and export consortia that need specialized services in digital transformation. There is little expertise and experts to lead the entrepreneurial experience towards digitization, that is, a road that prefers changing the business model with which we have been taught. Through this project we are in the forefront of entrepreneurial transformations, " said Costin LIANU, General Manager of USH Pro Business

Areas of intervention of the center of innovation and digitalization Smart eHub – Digital Innovation Hub are focused on Intelligent Specialization strategy of the two regions addressed.
These are: Smart City, Agriculture and Food Industry (with emphasis on traditional biological products, bioeconomy and precision farming), Tourism and Cultural Identity, Wood Processing & Furniture, Textiles and Clothing, Integrated Electronic Circuits, Auto - Automotive Electronics, Cable Production, Engineering and Related Technical Consulting, Development & Research in Other Natural Sciences and Engineering.

"The ELINCLUS Cluster is a cluster that brings together innovative companies that have extensive expertise in areas such as electronics, optoelectronics, communications (including optical fiber) and information technology may, together with consortium partners created to contribute in a way plenary, to support the digitization policy strongly promoted by the European Commission including in the forthcoming 2021-2027 budget exercise. This will ensure a favorable climate for companies in the region to properly connect to the trend demanded by the industrial revolution 4.0, " said Paul SVASTA, President of Elinclus.

Smart eHUB - Digital Innovation Hub is designed as a "one-stop-shop" in a network of several local centers in the two regions targeted, where companies of any size interested in initiating or accelerating the digitization process can benefit from mentoring, testing, prototypes, digital infrastructure and more; the aim being to provide a competitive advantage in local and international markets.
