Orange Romania has tested 5G millimeter Wave (mmWave) technology for the first time in our country in a 5G Standalone (SA) network. This is the next generation of 5G innovations, applicable for data intensive transfer scenarios: congested areas, alternative to optical fiber, video production and transmission, immersive applications. For the tests, Orange was authorized by ANCOM to use the radio spectrum in the 26 GHz band in the 5G laboratory in Bucharest. Thus, speeds of up to 10 Gbps download and 1.2 Gbps upload were obtained.
