The solution, on top of its existing features, such as filling level measurement, automated notifications to authorities when the preset waste bin fill limits are exceeded and determination of “zones of special interest” each with different priority, is now offering the optimization of garbage collection routing, access control to the bins and waste disposal monitoring per resident, as well as waste quality control. The solution is orchestrated & managed by Intracom Telecom’s Unified IoT Orchestration Platform uiTOP™, which offers an enhanced, unified environment for advanced management and control of Intelligent Things and several “smart” city operations.
Cities and municipalities can take advantage of Intracom Telecom’s “smart” waste solution to further reduce the operational expenditures of waste management, while strongly promoting the recycling concept via a reward system for the citizens. More specifically, citizens have the option to open the recycling containers with their own personal RFID card. Once the citizens dispose of the waste in the recycling containers, they are identified by smart and robust IoT devices inside those containers with the help of artificial intelligence, in order to grant to the citizens their reward points, based on the quantity of the recyclable waste they dispose of.
