Goodyear investments in Romania franchise chain to pass 13 mln euros by year-end

The investments made by Goodyear Dunlop Tires Romania, the local subsidiary of the world tire producer, in its chain of franchise servicing shops will pass 13 million euros by the end of the year, the company announced on Thursday, on the occasion of opening the Premio Proinvest centre in Alexandria (southern Romania).

The European franchise programme Premio conducted by Goodyear was introduced in the domestic tire servicing and retail market in the second quarter of 2009; it now operates 30 servicing shops and a combined original investment of 12.5 million euros.

The servicing shop chain will reach 32 units by year-end. Romanian-based Premio Chain will extend by two new centres to be opened in the Black Sea port of Constanta and in Bistrita Nasaud (northern Romania).

'Launching Premio Invest marked the attainment of 30 Premio servicing shops in our franchise chain in Romania. It is a rounded amount we have achieved in three years of franchise alongside the partners which wished to increase their business and services level under a powerful concept reverberating in the entire European market. We want to keep up this growth pace of 10 servicing shops a year. I am sure that alongside the powerful local partners, like the ones that have joined us so far, we'll succeed in easily attaining this target', said Ovidiu Balan, Goodyear Dunlop Tires Romania manager for Romania and Bulgaria.

Premio franchise chain in Romania holds large greenfield centres, with the largest one being Premio Railex in Suceava (northeastern Romania) built on a 2 million euros original investment.

Goodyear Dunlop Tires Romania operates six servicing shops in neighbouring Bulgaria under Premio franchise and it plans to open three new shops a year.

After developing the Romanian and Bulgarian markets under the joint management of Goodyear Dunlop Tires Romania, the first partnership for developing the market in neighbouring Republic of Moldova was forged in September under the same management.

Goodyear Dunlop Tires Romania anticipates growths to be recorded next year in all the three markets it manages, in line with the slow dynamic development of the European market.
