Card payment , cheaper than the currency exchange houses, according to a study by MasterCard

According to a MasterCard study conductd in Central and Eastern Europe and Israel, in general, when you travel abroad, the cheapest payment method is using the card at merchants. In this way you can make significant savings, comparing to foreign exchanges in the country or in destination.

For example, romanians who travel in Austria, can save up to 32% if they use their debit card for payments, comparing to the conversion at the exchange houses from the airport. Also, In Italy, if you purchase products with a value of 100 euros using currency from exchange houses, your costs will be 7% higher comparing with the card payment at the merchant.
