Ascenta IT becomes part of Norwegian IT consultancy group Computas

Ascenta, one of the biggest players in IT services in Romania announces changes in shareholding, following a transaction which took place at the end of last year, through which the Norwegian group Computas took control over the Romanian company, owning 84% of shares, while Romanian entrepreneurs Florin and Mariuca Talpes diminished their participation by 1%

As a result of the transaction, Florian Enea, general manager of Ascenta IT and Paul Herda, its commercial director, became shareholders with 9% and 6% of shares.

"The independent company Ascenta IT was created a long time ago, but its business of systems integration was being ran through the division with the same name, part of the Softwin group. The transaction through which Computas group became major shareholder of legal entity Ascenta IT also implied the transfer of the systems integration business from Softwin to Ascenta IT. The integration into the Norwegian group Computas will allow the Romanian company a stronger approach on IT infrastructure projects both in Romania and other European markets.", said Florin Talpe?, president of Softwin group.

The transaction represents a continuation of a long partnership between Ascenta and Computas and their collaboration within important projects such as supplying IT solutions for grant schemes in the EU system.

"Excellent relationship between the two companies and knowledge of organizational cultures is refreshing and at the same time facilitates the optimization of future company growth.", said Trond Eilertsen, CEO of Computas.

The acquisition of Ascenta is part of Computas strategy of expanding its activity in the European market. Computas is answering thus to the high European interest in the IT solutions that it developed in the last years for the public sector in Norway and who brought international recognition. The many awards received by Computas and Norwegian Authority for Food Safety, especially for the food inspection solution MATS, drew attention to the IT solutions in the Norwegian public sector.

"The acquisition of Ascenta has great strategic importance in gaining a favorable position on the European market of IT solutions, both in public and private sectors. But the company will give special importance to the Romanian market also, a market that is now in full development.", said Trond Eilertsen

Ascenta's goals for 2013 are a five million euro turnover. The company also expects to increase the number of employees substantially during the year.

Ascenta aims also to develop and internationalize its products for the meat industry, to acquire new Romanian patents and to develop them commercially. Another major issue for Ascenta will be attracting local intelligence for creating and implementing international projects.

Financing of major projects on the Romanian market or entering into public-private partnerships for Romanian strategic projects is an objective arising naturally from the force of the company after the acquisition.
