In an economic context marked by persistent price increases and geopolitical uncertainty, Romanian consumers are adjusting their behaviors, reducing non-essential spending and focusing their budgets on essential products and services. According to the annual EY Consumer Index Romania 2025 study, now in its fifth consecutive year of being conducted during the winter holidays, 65% of respondents indicate the increase in the cost of living as the main concern, followed by the evolution of the national economy (62%). External conflicts (54%) and the outcome of domestic political elections (50%) complete the picture of concerns, signaling a shift in attention from domestic political risks to the economic impact of global instability.
