A leading member of London Business School’s alumni community has pledged a generous gift to strengthen the School’s global scholarship offering as part of a comprehensive campaign to raise funds for the School’s future. The announcement was made during London Business School World Alumni Celebration organized by the LBS Romanian Alumni Club.

Teofil Muresan is the Founder, CEO and Chairman of E-INFRA, a group of five companies offering expertise in integrated services for infrastructure projects in energy, civil and industrial construction, and telecommunication.

E-INFRA’s donation will support the next generation of global business leaders in Romania with a focus on skill development aimed to strengthen leadership and management practices, strategy and decision making in the country. There will be multiple scholarships awarded annually for Romanian candidates across six of the graduate degree programmes at London Business School.

Speaking about his time at LBS and the importance of supporting future generations of business leaders, Mr Muresan said: “When I completed the LBS Sloan programme in 2012 I was able to see the business world differently – this affected positively the success of my businesses and ultimately changed the trajectory of my entrepreneurial career. My son also graduated from the Master in Management program at LBS so the impact on our family has been significant. I hope this donation will provide an opportunity for young, hardworking and motivated Romanians to pursue their life-long dreams through better education at a wonderful school. And I also hope that they will bring their newly acquired knowledge and global connections back to Romania to make a long-lasting impact on the country and shape its future”.

Professor Florin Vasvari, Academic Director at the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Private Capital at London Business School, said: “We are extremely grateful to Teofil for his tremendous support and unwavering commitment to our School. It is a wonderful gift to the country. This generous donation will open new opportunities for talented Romanian students at London Business School who aim to grow personally and professionally and become the next generation of Romanian business leaders. I hope that Teofil’s initiative will inspire other successful business leaders in the country to invest in education.”

The Dean of London Business School François Ortalo-Magne said that “the gift was an inspiration for all alumni and friends of the School as we move ahead with the Forever Forward fundraising campaign.”

About London Business School’s ‘Forever Forward’ campaign

To drive the progress of the School’s world needs, we need the sharpest, smartest minds. We need ground-breaking, game changing research. We need more innovative learning experiences that will help generate more ideas. We need spaces that provide a sanctuary for brilliant minds to connect.

That’s why we’re launching an ambitious campaign, Forever Forward, which aims to raise £200 million to ensure we’re always leading the way. The Campaign will help create a powerful impact on business and the world through four key areas of funding; Scholarships, Research, the Learning Environment and Innovation.

Forever Forward builds on the School’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign which was launched in September 2013 with the ambition to raise £100m. More than £125m was eventually raised by the School’s worldwide alumni, friends and corporate partners. The Campaign helped to develop the Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, attract world class faculty, double the School’s scholarships offering and develop an unrestricted fund in support of the School’s strategic priorities.
