Gross written premiums in January-June 2013 were 4.264 billion lei, up by 3.16% compared to the first 6 months of 2012 (4.133 billion lei), according to preliminary data reported by companies supervised and regulated by the FSA
The best first quarter for the insurance market remains the first half of 2008, with gross written premiums of 4.63 billion lei. January to June 2013 was the best first half of the last 3 years, but the value of the premiums registered in the first 6 months of the year is still down about 8% from the same period of 2008.
