- This project comes after 3GPP (the global body for the development of telecommunications standards) approved the use of satellites to support non-terrestrial 5G (5G NTN) networks
- Non-terrestrial 5G networks could provide full global 5G coverage, including in areas not currently served by terrestrial networks
- The initial phase of this project in France will consist of testing and validating 5G NTN networks to benefit from the advantages of the satellite ecosystem and IT&C solutions
