ENEL X and HUBJECT set up partnership to expand the charging point network in Romania

Over 160 Enel X Romania charging points will become part of Europe's largest eRoaming network intercharge, raising interoperability and accessibility for EV drivers in Central and Eastern Europe

Enel X Romania, a subsidiary of Enel X, the Enel Group’s advanced energy services business line, has signed an agreement with Hubject to expand the charging infrastructure accessible to its customers to the overall Hubject network.

Over 160 charging points owned by Enel X Romania will become part of Hubject, Europe's largest eRoaming intercharge network. This will enable the electric vehicle (EV) drivers in Romania to charge their cars using a large network of charging points worldwide, without having to sign new contracts on top of the ones with their e-mobility Service Providers that use Hubject’s eRoaming services.

Enel X Romania takes a new step to boost the e-mobility infrastructure by increasing supplying charging services beyond its network. By joining Hubject, we aim to raise the accessibility for EV drivers first in Romania and in Eastern Europe and to offer them the possibility to fill up their batteries without having to worry about who their provider is, or about being abroad”, said Mihai Mardale, Head of E-Mobility, Enel X Romania.

Until now, access to the Enel X Romania charging points has only been possible via the JuicePass application. The connection to Hubject’s eRoaming platform Intercharge makes the e-mobility infrastructure more accessible to a greater number of drivers, also across national borders.

"We are convinced our agreement with Enel X Romania will have a favourable impact on EV adoption in the region, and we are looking forward to seeing our cooperation growing," said Christian Hahn, CEO at Hubject.

Enel X Romania has already reached a network of over 160 charging points installed in 20 cities, on both public and private spaces, in malls or hypermarkets. The existing national infrastructure, that can be viewed on an interactive map, allows the electric vehicles drivers to travel from North to South and from East to West without worrying about EV stations.

Enel X covers also the charging needs in the private area with electric mobility solutions for home or office, that make life easier for electric vehicles drivers. These include charging stations, installation services and software applications through which customers can monitor and control their own charging devices.

Hubject is already cooperating with significant players in the local market. Through the collaboration with Enel X Romania, about 80% percent of the charging points in the country will be part of the Hubject eRoaming platform.

Enel X Romania is part of Enel X, the Enel's global business line dedicated to the development of innovative products and digital solutions in sectors where energy is showing the greatest potential for transformation: cities, homes, industries and electric mobility. Enel X Romania manages services such as electric vehicle charging points, available around the country1, photovoltaic panel solutions for industrial and commercial customers, e-city and e-homes advanced systems, providing people, communities, institutions and companies with an alternative model that respects the environment and integrates technological innovation into daily life. Each solution has the power to turn decarbonization, electrification and digitalization goals into sustainable actions for everyone, in order to build a more sustainable and efficient society.

Hubject simplifies the charging of electric vehicles.
