Dragos Radu joins Ernst & Young as a Partner and Head of the Legal Services practice in Romania

Dragos Radu, one of the leading Romanian lawyers in Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Corporate Law, has joined Ernst & Young Romania as a Partner and Head of the Legal Services practice, which functions as a separate affiliate law office.

In this role, Dragos will lead firm’s efforts to expand market share, client portfolio and range of services.

“Armed with the international platform that Ernst & Young provides, the law firm can grow exponentially in the medium and long term. We are now working on growing the legal areas that have potential, considering the demand in the market and from our existing clients. Business law went through several interesting stages in recent years, of which the most important saw firms moving from a "one-stop shop" model to hyper-specialization in few limited areas. The financial crisis has shown up the weaknesses of being too niche, too focused on a few areas, and clients are seeking out law firms which can provide a broader range of advice, like Ernst & Young", Dragos said.

Ranked repeatedly by the most reputed legal directories such as Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 since 2000, Dragos has more than 15 years of experience in leading transactions, often with an international component. In the local market, he has taken a lead role in some of the largest transactions in Romania over the past two decades, such as privatization of leading Romanian companies, acquisitions, investments and exits on behalf of major private equity funds and large-scale real estate deals.

“We see an increasing need for integrated Legal Services from our clients, mainly due to the dynamic legislative framework, but also increased sophistication of the transactions. In this context, Dragos will contribute to expanding our local practice services, by further integrating the market offering at the level of expertise areas with the experience in our priority industries,” said Venkatesh Srinivasan, Partner and Head of Tax & Legal, Ernst & Young Romania.

“The affiliated law office has always been an integral part of Ernst & Young in Romania in terms of operations and market offering. Over the years it has built and consolidated its position in the local market and our team of lawyers is appreciated by the clients and the wider business community. With this move, we are taking everything to a new level, as a natural evolution process, in order to better respond to the current market conditions, but most importantly to meet our client’s requirements for integrated seamless services”, said Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner,  Ernst & Young Romania.

Eirinikos Platis, who has lead the legal office for the last 8 years, will be returning to Athens, where he will be engaged in re-establishing the local Ernst & Young affiliated legal practice. "I am very happy with Dragos coming on board and I am confident that he is the right person to lead the practice to a new level”, he said.
