Cosmote, Orange, RCS&RDS and Vodafone paid EUR 204.1 million for telecom licenses

The four operators paid the amount accounting for the first installment for the telecom licenses of 800, 900, 1.800 and 2.600 MHz acquired at the end of September, following a bid organized by The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM).

According to Catalin Marinescu, president of Ancom, the dead line for the telecom companies to submit their payment for licenses was established for November 30 and the amounts have been paid within the established period.  Part of the auctioned band spectrum targets the 4G telecom services.


Following the auction  ended on September 24, the four operators, Cosmote, Orange, RCS&RDS, Vodafone  and 2K Telecom are to pay a total of EUR 682.14 million for the purchased licenses. Hence, Vodafone Romania has to pay EUR 228.52 million, Orange Romania has to pay EUR 227.14 million, Cosmote Romania has to pay EUR 179.88 million, RCS&RDS will pay EUR 40 million while 2K Telecom has to pay EUR 6.6 million.


Following Ancom data, the five operators will pay a total amount of EUR 478 million to the state budget as of end of June 2013.
