As a result, 100% of destinations around the world implemented travel bans or restrictions to prevent disease spread in 2020, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. In Euromonitor International’s worst-case COVID-19 scenario, C19 Pessimistic 3, global tourism demand could plummet by as much as 80% in 2020, with potential recovery to pre-crisis, within four years.
