Directive 2014/55 / EU / 16 April 2014 on electronic invoicing in the field of public procurement (Directive) represents the framework through which it was decided to develop a common standard of electronic invoicing. The Directive also provides for the obligation of Member States to adopt rules at national level which oblige contracting authorities and entities to accept invoices issued in accordance with this standard by economic operators.
