The love for science begins at the age of 11 years old : a study reveals the moments, the challenges and the opportunities of the STEM education for European girls

Microsoft announces the results of a new study conducted on a group of 11,500 girls and women aged between 11 and 30 years, showing that the period in which the interest in subjects like science, technology, engineering and mathematics ( STEM) can be born and stimulate and lasts about four years.

The Microsoft research has discovered that girls become interested in STEM subjects around the age of 11 years and a half, but the interest decreases sharply after age of fifteen years old.

The results of the study predicts a way to prevent this decrease: positive role models, the support of the parents and teachers, practical experience of the application of the STEM knowledge in the real world and the belief that women are not discriminated in this area.
