PwC report: The production of basic raw materials, such as rice, lithium or iron, risks a dramatic decrease by 2050 due to drought and heat waves

Thus, estimates show that 87% of world rice production, over 70% of cobalt and lithium production and approximately 60% of bauxite and iron production will be negatively affected by 2050

The production of nine basic raw materials for the economy and population - grains (wheat, rice and corn), essential minerals (copper, cobalt, lithium) and vital metals (zinc, iron, aluminum) - is at risk due to climate change, even and in the scenario in which carbon dioxide emissions would decrease, according to the PwC report "Climate risks for 9 key raw materials"*.
