Consilium Policy Advisors Group (CPAG) announces the establishment of the Council of Distinguished Minds, an advisory body bringing together seven distinguished leaders with extensive experience in managing major companies, institutions and organisations in Romania and across Europe. The new Council will contribute to defining Romania’s strategic development priorities within the broader European and global context, while strengthening dialogue among the country’s business, academic and institutional communities on emerging issues of strategic importance.
The Council brings together expertise developed at the highest levels of sectors that are essential to the Romanian economy, including energy and industry, banking and financial markets, advisory services and taxation, academia and public institutions, social research and European affairs. The complementarity of these perspectives will facilitate a deeper understanding of economic challenges which, further explored through CPAG’s research, will help identify innovative directions for the development of the Romanian economy. The Council serves exclusively in an advisory capacity and on a voluntary basis, with no governance responsibilities and no involvement in the preparation of CPAG’s research outputs.
The members of the Council of Distinguished Minds are: Mariana Gheorghe, Ramona Jurubita, Sergiu Oprescu, Mara Roman, Cristian Secosan, Aura Socol and Remus Stefureac.
A New Stage in CPAG’s Development
The establishment of the Council of Distinguished Minds marks a new stage in CPAG’s institutional development and in strengthening its role as a platform for economic analysis and debate. Founded in 2017 as an independent economic policy research and advisory think tank, CPAG has published research and analysis in areas including macroeconomic risks, productivity, competitiveness, economic convergence, international trade and Romania’s integration into European value chains, the energy transition, institutional stability and labour market challenges. CPAG has presented and discussed its findings with national and European public institutions, representatives of academia, international organisations and private-sector leaders, contributing to a better-informed economic debate and to the development of evidence-based public policies.
Strengthening Institutional Partnerships
CPAG has expanded its collaboration network through institutional partnerships established to date with the European Institute of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. These partnerships provide a framework for joint research, exchanges among experts and the development of analyses relevant to Romania’s economy and its participation in the European decision-making process.
Through both the Council of Distinguished Minds and its institutional partnerships, CPAG aims to contribute to defining long-term economic priorities and to provide public authorities and society with rigorous analysis, comparative perspectives and public policy recommendations capable of supporting Romania’s next stage of development.
In a context marked by political instability, economic pressures and structural transformations at the global level, defining shared objectives and coherent directions for their implementation is essential. This requires sustained dialogue among the business community, academia, public institutions and decision-makers.
