Prime Minister Victor Ponta, ministers in his Cabinet and presidential and state advisors took place in the ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace. President Traian Basescu signed the decree to appoint physician Raed Arafat as Minister of Health on Wednesday. Raed Arafat, who was undersecretary of state with the Ministry of Health, becomes minister of Health following the resignation of Vasile Cepoi from this position. After Cepoi stepped down, Prime Minister Victor Ponta was appointed minister of Health. Physician Raed Arafat is the one who opened the first emergency service with paramedics at Targu Mures following the western model, under the name of SMURD (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication), which is at the moment one of best medical services in Romania.
