Opcom: 30,785 green certificates traded in the first session in December

Opcom, the operator of Romanian green certificates market announced a number of 30,785 units of green certificates traded its first session in December 2012 on the centralized green certificates market, according to data published by market operator OPCOM and sent to newswire Agerpres

In the first session in December, were released 10 purchase bids and 24 for sale. The closing price was 244 lei per certificate. Since January, the centralized market traded 990,330 green certificates (the green certificate is a document released for a quantity of 1 MWh of electricity produced from renewable energy sources). Eligible for the trading system of green certificates are renewable energy produced by hydropower plants with an installed capacity of 10 MW, wind, solar, geothermal and associated fuel gases, biomass, biogas, landfill gas and sludge digester gas from wastewater treatment plants. Mandatory annual quota for 2012 is 8.3 percent of electricity supplied by each supplier to final consumers. The national target for 2015 and 2020 for renewable energy within the final consumption of electricity is 35 percent, respectively 38 percent.
