Oil imports decrease 12.6 percent in first nine months of 2012

Romania imported in the first nine months of 2012 a crude oil quantity of over 1.773 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down by 498,300 toe (12.6 percent) from the same period of last year, according to the data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).


The oil production amounted, in the January - September period, to 2.918 million toe, by 1.7 percent (49,100 toe) lower compared with that in the first nine months of 2011.


According to a British Petroleum survey, the proven oil reserves of Romania stood at 600 million barrels at end-2011, about one-third of those recorded at end-1990, when the reserves stood at 1.5 billion barrels.
