Gabriel Sescu was the founder of the Food Banks system in Romania - an essential infrastructure in our country for the fight against food waste and providing food to people in extreme poverty. Between 2017 and 2024, the network founded and led by Gabriel saved and redirected over 29,000 tons of food, the equivalent of 58 million food portions.

The distinction was received by Andrei Sescu, son of Gabriel, president of the Bucharest Food Bank, who continues his father's mission.
