Deloitte Romania announces Madeline Alexander as Audit and Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) Partner in Charge

On the background of a steadily growing audit practice, Deloitte Romania announces a new Audit and ERS leader, with Madeline Alexander taking the helm after 11 years of performance and successful management within the firm

Mrs. Alexander joined Deloitte in Romania as a Partner in 2002. She has over 20 years of experience and an international career that started in 1991 with another major professional services firm in the United States. At that time, she was responsible for overseeing multi-skilled audit teams and managing the profitability of various engagements, compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare financial reviews, US GAAP financial statements and analysis for IPOs.

 

With Romanian origins, she transferred to Romania in 1997 to provide support to national and international companies in need of audit and financial reporting advice. Given her language skills and expertise, Mrs. Alexander was one of the pioneers in implementing the International Accounting Standards (IAS), as part of the team that has worked closely with the Ministry of Finance and led the review of internal control procedures and transformation of Romanian statutory accounts to IAS.

 

She has a Bachelor degree in Accounting from the Florida International University, Miami, and extensive experience in US GAAP, IFRS and Romanian GAAP.

 

Mrs. Alexander has also led the efforts between the Ministry of Finance and the business community to draft and finalize the “Fiscal Code for 2003” as well as the “Procedural Code” to be implemented in Romania.

 

Over the years, she has been responsible for international audits and technical advice to different local, greenfield operations as well as foreign subsidiaries operating in Central and Eastern Europe mostly in the Manufacturing, Distribution, Pharmaceutical and Consumer Business industries.

 

As leader of the Deloitte Public Sector Industry team, Mrs. Alexander has successfully built the firm’s reputation as a trustworthy and professional auditor for state-owned companies and governmental institutions.

 

Mrs. Alexander has also been extensively involved in the business community through several business associations. She was the Treasurer and Director of the Board of the American Chamber in Romania, for three years, and in 2004 she was the personal advisor to the Minister of Finance in Romania on tax, accounting issues and business relationship with the international business community. She is also member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, member of the Georgia Institute of Certified Public Accountants, member of the Romanian Chamber of Financial Auditors, member of the Romanian Chartered Accountants Association, member of the Romanian Chartered Accountants for Publicly Held Companies.
