Global health systems will face increasing pressure in the coming years due to an aging population, a shortage of health workers, and rising chronic disease incidence and costs. By 2035, the global population could reach nearly 9 billion people, and as people live longer and chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and dementia become more common, the costs of treatment will explode. The World Economic Forum estimates show costs of over 47 trillion dollars globally for the treatments of the diseases listed above by 2030 (WEF). Thus, the next ten years could be defining for the reconfiguration of health systems, based on technologies and devices for monitoring and prevention.
