In 2020, Kaspersky detected an average of 360,000 malware files per day - an increase of 5.2% compared to the previous year. This was largely influenced by a large increase in the number of Trojans (malicious files capable of a range of actions, including data deletion and espionage) and backdoors (a specific type of Trojan that gives attackers remote control on the infected device): increases of 40.5% and 23% respectively. These were the trends highlighted by Kaspersky Security Bulletin: Statistics of the Year Report.
