The manufacturing industry represents a pillar of the Romanian economy with a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product, with an important share in exports, but also in the employed workforce. However, in recent years at least, concerns have arisen regarding the productivity of companies in the field in the context of the multiple transformations that have taken place at local, regional and global levels – exponential developments in technology, changes in the labor market, sustainability issues, and all of this placed in the context of increasingly pressing geopolitical challenges. In these conditions, the industry must accelerate investments in high-performance technologies and intensify its efforts towards sustainable development.
