Seven EU countries, as well as other European countries outside the EU, have already decided to cut taxes – excise duties and VAT – to limit the impact of the fuel crisis on economies and consumers.
Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Hungary, Spain were the first EU member states to reduce excise duties on petroleum products, and Ireland recently joined them. In addition, Spain has also reduced the VAT rate on petrol and diesel from 21% to 10%.
