The second quarter of 2020 was a challenging period for the Romanian economy, characterized by unprecedented deep declines in the last 25 years (since the quarterly GDP data are available). To a greater or lesser extent, the pandemic has affected all branches of the economy. However, unlike the crisis of 2008, the data published on a monthly basis show that the recovery started earlier, as early as May. And in June, the pace of recovery became particularly strong, paving the way for robust growth in the third quarter.
