Penny Market has invested over 120 million lei in the remodeling of the entire Future Store store network

REWE Romania has completed the remodeling of 170 Penny Market stores in the Future Store format across the country through investments worth over 120 million lei. The remodeling process started in March 2015 and ended in November 2018.

The Future Store concept is based on complex market studies and was primarily aimed at improving the buying experience for Penny Market customers. The emphasis is placed on modern and stylish design, their shopping experience being improved due to the reorganization of product categories in such a way as to provide more space for fresh food in the categories of fruits and vegetables, meat, bread and pastry, dairy products.

Additionally, customers also benefit from loose bulk items, where new assortments of frozen products, sweets and snacks have been added.

The Future Store format has been applied to every new store opened since 2016, so at present, all 236 Penny Market stores in the country are built under this format.

"The remodeling of Future Store stores has had a positive impact, and confirmation has been received from our clients. Moreover, shop improvements have contributed to the creation of new jobs through the additional services we offer, such as the choice of products from assisted windows. All Penny Market stores are ISO 50 001 certified to meet the highest standards of energy sustainability and efficiency practices.

Other improvements to Penny Market's remodeling in the Future Store format have been achieved by installing new cooling systems, adding an additional freezer room for new product assortments, adding assisted showcases to stores that allowed such interventions, and changing shelves, furniture, floor washing machines and cash registers.

The company will continue to constantly adapt its network of stores, focusing on modernizing design, streamlining organizational processes using new technology and, of course, developing a range of products with emphasis on their freshness and variety.
