AGERPRES, Romania's first news agency, has a new identity and new communication platforms

In a world where the media market is constantly developing, imposing new standards AGERPRES, Romania's first news agency, is reinventing itself. As from September 17, the agency will get a new visual identity, new online communication platforms as well as a new slogan that perfectly captures the mission entrusted to AGERPRES: 'updating the world.'

'We have been here since 1889, and we have had more than 90 years of live broadcast, which means that actually AGERPRES represents the news history of Romania. We want to be both its present and its future, and that is why we are reinventing ourselves today so that we may best achieve our mission of being the most important source of unbiased news for Romania and the rest of the world,' says AGERPRES Director General Alexandru Giboi.

The new AGERPRES proves that the agency has been undergoing a complex process of change and adaptation to the latest developments in the world's mass media, while getting in line with the latest global trends. In its newest format, the news agency will preserve its fundamental roles (themed news streams, press monitoring, photo library) while adding three new pillars that secure its constant development and strengthen its position as a source of rapid, unbiased, top-quality news stories. They are:

Steering toward the on-line environment and getting in line with the trends in this area. The new AGERPRES website was created starting from the behaviour of a visitor who needs quick access to news. In usability terms, visitors will interact with a friendly interface that provides easy access to news. In accessibility terms, the new AGERPRES website is created on a robust platform, with an adaptive graphical implementation that provides users with an interface that is adjusted to the device in use for surfing. Also implemented will be a system for on-line acquisition and payment of news and photo streams. Moreover, the new online platform allows integration with the most popular social networks in Romania (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube) that allows social identification as well as an easier distribution of interesting news and comments on news directly on social networks.

Improving the multimedia area with an interactive video platform. This will provide numerous ways of broadcasting news, such as video illustrations, live streaming and video news streams. Moreover, the platform will be constantly updated with exclusive AGERPRES video interviews and documentaries and integrated with YouTube for a complete social experience.

Introducing the concept of well-rounded journalists, who are those news editors who have basic photo and video knowledge allowing them to broadcast complex news stories to their public in a rapid manner.

The concept behind the new identity started form the journalists and their basic business: collecting information at a global level and turning it into news stories. Thus, the new identity will convey and support the messages of the new AGERPRES: global coverage, piecing together news from various domestic and international sources; its national character is symbolised by the rising colours of Romania's tricolour flag, as well as substance, the power of news symbolised by bits of information.

The whole rebranding and rethinking of communication strategies and platforms is designed to promote AGERPRES to the league of the world's big news agencies and also to confirm its position as the main news source about Romania for Romanians and the entire world.
