Romanian taxpayers, individuals and legal entities, with outstanding obligations to the state can benefit from a new tax amnesty, adopted by the authorities through Emergency Ordinance no. 107/2024 which provides, at the same time, a series of other facilities. The stated goal is to increase revenues to the state budget, especially in the context where the budget deficit assumed for the year 2024, of 5% of GDP, is not expected to be reached, the European Commission estimating that this indicator will rise to 6.9% from GDP. In this sense, the authorities claim that, from the value of current budget claims of 175 billion lei, a total of 71.8 billion lei could be the subject of tax facilities, which would benefit 330,735 taxpayers, legal entities and over 848,700 natural person taxpayers.
