Halloween translated in economic terms - a business opportunity of USD 10 billion

Halloween is not just for fun. Many of us are not too happy about the idea of adopting holidays which have never been ours. But, from an economic point of view, there is a strong argument for celebrating Halloween not just in the US and Canada, but also in Romania: it is a major business opportunity.

In 2013, the American Halloween market registered almost USD 7 billion, according to other estimates it reached almost USD 10 billion. Which means that, in average, a shopping basket is USD 75 for each consumer. And the tendency is significantly rising, considering that, in 2005, the average consumption was of USD 30. This year especially, the Halloween consumption is estimated to rise due to the fact that 31 October is on Friday, at the beginning of the weekend.
