CHEP Europe, the supply chain solutions company, has earned an EcoVadis Platinum Recognition Level for its sustainability achievements in 2023. It’s the fourth year running that CHEP Europe receives the highest recognition of a supply chain supplier presented by the world's most trusted business sustainability rating organization, placing CHEP amongst the top 1% in the category ‘Renting and leasing of other machinery, equipment and tangible goods’.
EcoVadis rates 130,000 companies in 220 sectors across 180 countries. Its rating methodology aims to measure the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through 3 management pillars: policies, actions and results. Furthermore, EcoVadis has defined 21 sustainability criteria grouped into 4 themes (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement), which are based upon international sustainability standards.
CHEP’s environmental policy, its endorsement of the Science Based Targets initiative and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), and initiatives such as the awareness program offered to its customers and employees regarding waste reduction and health & safety issues, reflect the company’s advanced level rating performance.
"We are thrilled to receive yet another recognition for our efforts in sustainability," says Alejandro Tostado, Senior Director, Sustainability and Government Affairs Lead at CHEP Europe. "Our goal is to lead the way in creating regenerative supply chains. As pioneers in the circular economy, we are committed to fostering a collaborative effort to tackle the major challenges of our era: decarbonising the global supply chain and restoring natural resources."
This recognition adds to the list of sustainability rankings where CHEP and its parent company, Brambles have been included in the last year. For instance, this year Brambles was ranked second within the top 100 most sustainable corporations in the Corporate Knights’ prestigious Global 100 list, and retained #1 industry ranking in Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Moreover, TIME Magazine included Brambles in its inaugural list of World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024, in the fourth position on a list of 500 companies, leading its industry category and being the only company in the Transport, Logistics and Aviation sector to rank in the top 100.
These recognitions are the result of CHEP and Brambles’ sustainability goals achieved over the last years, and its ambitious 2025 Sustainability targets aimed at pioneering regenerative supply chains. The programme includes, among other goals, the commitment to 100% sustainable sourcing of timber, zero product waste to landfill and the extension of its circular model to more customers in more regions worldwide.
