Romania can reduce up to 11.7 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) energy consumption by 2025, if it introduces energy efficiency measures, according to a study conducted by the Romanian Association for Promoting Energy Efficiency (ARPEE).
Most of the potential for efficiency is in the consumption area: the industrial sector, the household, the transport. In total, up to 5.8 million toe. In terms of energy production Romania can also get important savings, 5.1 million toe, by promoting high efficiency cogeneration, renewable energy and improving efficiency technologies. These data were presented today in a press conference at the official launch of the association.
