SEAT launches the new big model: SEAT Tarraco

SEAT Tarraco is the first model to show the new SEAT design direction for the next year.

The new SEAT Tarraco has arrived! The new large SUV has its name inspired by the Mediterranean city of Tarragona, a historic and cultural center with impressive architecture, but with a young, fresh and adventurous spirit.

The Tarraco name was chosen for the new high-end SUV by the vote of over 140,000 fans of the brand, who participated in the #SEATseekingName final.
The latest model, developed and developed by SEAT in Martorell (Barcelona) and produced in Wolfsburg (Germany) marks the third landmark in the company's SUV offensive and also shows a look into the future of the design language of the new SEAT models.

Tarraco will bring new customers to the company, support the image of the brand and will have an important influence on the brand's profit. And it will of course be the admiral ship in the brand's fleet of products.

The new Tarraco is positioned at the top of the SEAT family of SUVs, being the "big brother" of the Ateca and Arona models, combining cutting-edge technology with dynamic and agile handling, practical and functional design with sleek and progressive design.
Tarraco uses the many advantages of its large waist to provide a car that brightens all aspects of modern life.

The new SUV has the key attributes of the entire SEAT range: design and functionality, sportiness and comfort, accessibility and quality, technology and emotion, but all dressed in a form fit for a variety of lifestyles.

The new SEAT Tarraco is designed for those drivers who need the utility of a 5 or 7-seater, the virtue of a higher driving position, but also appreciate the attractive design and the balance between elegance and a confident allure.

And this balance is ensured for both equipment lines: Style and Xcellence.
As the SUV market continues to expand, Tarraco will play a key role for the SEAT brand once it is marketed. At a time when brand sales are already on the rise in 2019, it strengthens the brand and allows it to grow further.

From January to August, SEAT delivered 383,900 vehicles worldwide, up 21.9% from the same period in 2017.

"SEAT is going through the biggest product offensive in its recent history. The launch of the SEAT Tarraco, our first high-end SUV, is part of the 3.3 billion euros we invest between 2015 and 2019 in the future of the company and in the range of vehicles we offer, " said SEAT President, Luca de Meo, "This model complements our SUV family in such a way that we can meet all of our customers' needs."

Excellence in engineering

SEAT Tarraco has been designed for drivers who seek driving inducement and functionality in a single car for those who need the practical benefits of up to seven seats and space to transport their family members and friends, but appreciates a car that reacts directly to driver commands and provides excellent dynamic performance.

The key to this approach, which emphasizes dynamism and practical benefits, is the latest technology of the Volkswagen Group and the long wheelbase MQB-A platform architecture at the heart of this large SUV.

Adaptive Suspension Control (DCC) settings provide the perfect balance between sporty driving sensations and long-haul traveling on various types of tread.
The driver can select the settings they prefer, but the system can also adapt automatically, altering the features according to the running surface and driving style.

The refined character of the treadmill is complemented by high performance, efficiency and reliability for all chassis options. All engines have direct injection, supercharged turbine and start-stop technology and offer power between 150 HP and 190 HP.

Two gasoline versions will be available: a 150-HP 1.5-liter 150-HP four-cylinder engine with six-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drive, as well as a 2.0-liter 190 HP automatic seven-speed transmission DSG and 4Drive all-wheel drive.

There are also two diesel engines, both 2.0 TDI, available with 150 HP and 190 HP.
The 150 HP version can be combined with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive with six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic transmission with 4-wheel drive.
The stronger version is offered exclusively with 4Drive traction and with the seven-speed automatic transmission DSG. Later, the SEAT Tarraco will also be available with other treadmill options.

"SEAT Tarraco is a real masterpiece of functionality and flexibility, providing the space and flexibility that our customers want from a large SUV. It is the most sporty car in the segment, from the point of view of design, but also because of dynamic chassis control, which allows the driver to choose the settings he wants, "explains Dr. Matthias Rabe, Vice President, Research and Development.

The new SEAT Tarraco has all the assistance systems needed to enhance driving comfort and safety, even in more difficult driving conditions.
The established systems, such as Lane Assist and Front Assist, including bicycle and pedestrian detection, are included in standard equipment in Europe, and systems such as Blind Spot Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Light Assist and Emergency Assist are offered as optional extras.

SEAT Tarraco raises the safety standard with benefits such as Emergency Call, Pre-crash Assist and Rollover Detection, so that regardless of the situation, the car has the ability to meet high safety requirements to turn this high-end SUV in a real landmark.

 Space for life

Larger dimensions inspired the design team to find a good balance between aesthetics and practicality. And even though the Tarraco SUV is 4.735 mm in height and 1,658 mm in height, offering a huge interior and an impressive exterior, its overall design is marked by its ease and agility, robustness and the feeling of space vast.

The front section design offers clues to the new design language of the SEAT brand with a more prominent radiator grille, giving the car a more prominent and stronger feel, while the LED headlamps retain the signature of the triangular shape but are integrated deeper into the body, giving the car a more impressive appeal.

The lighting technology is an important aspect of the Tarraco model. The SUV uses as standard only LED technology both on the outside and inside and on both the Xcellence and Style lines, giving designers more creative freedom and giving customers better light.

"I am convinced that Tarraco exudes a strong first impression as soon as the eyes meet for the first time, because it has excellent, elegant proportions and at the same time a sporty design. Exudes pride thanks to its distinctive frontal section, which already provides clues about how the future SEAT models will show, "said Alejandro Mesonero, SEAT's Design Director.
"And as we do for every car we develop, we have included Tarraco in love and passion for every detail, according to our philosophy: if it looks good, then it's good."

In the rear part, where the practical character is of crucial importance, the emphasis was placed on the trunk, but with an illumination concept that gives expression to the width and practical character of the SUV. LEDs have also been used for dynamic signaling lights.
SEAT Tarraco will be available in eight different exterior colors: Dark Camouflage, White Oryx, Silver Reflex, Atlantic Blue, Indium Gray, Titanium Beige, Black Deep and Gray Urano.
Inside, designers have worked hard to create an atmosphere that gives a feeling of protection to the occupants using a horizontal line spanning the dashboard.

It also emphasizes the Tarraco's breadth, but also the feeling of generous space, while also inspiring safety and quality, at levels commonly found only in the premium segment.

Given that our world is becoming more digital, the interior of the Tarraco features the 10.25 "Digital Cockpit display that transmits to the driver all the important information, as well as a large HMI screen through which the occupants can access the numerous connectivity options offered by SEAT. Also, with regard to infotainment systems, the Tarraco will be the first SEAT to allow gesture control when equipped with the 8 "Navigation Plus system. SEAT Tarraco's pre-sale will begin in December.
