Pet population and stray cats:
Pet populations represent annualised figures for the number of dogs, cats and other pets, such as fish, birds, small mammals and reptiles. This excludes strays, wild/feral dogs and cats and agricultural livestock. Therefore, stray cats are not counted as pet population, but cat food purchased through retail channels by consumers for feeding stray cats are included within the cat food market size.
