Overall increase of 6 percent for insurance market in 2012

Insurance companies subscribed total gross premiums worth 8.3 billion lei in 2012, marking an increase of almost 6 percent compared with previous year, according to The Romanian Insurance Supervisory Commission (CSA Romania).

In general insurance segment, the subscribed policies stood at 6.5 billion lei last year, registering a growth exceeding 6 percent over 2011. The life insurance policies triggered subcribed policies worth 1.8 billion, a 3.75 percent growth compared with 2011.

 

Optional Casco and mandatory RCA insurance policies represented the largest ratio within the general insurance policies, with 79 percent, also, adding to the insurance against fire and other natural calamities. Casco represented almost 30 percent within the overall insurance policies, with subscribed policies of 1.9 billion, losing 3.72 percent compared to previous year. The downsized trend for this insurance segment slowed the decreasing pace , compared with the registered decreasing trend in 2011- 2010, when the decline marked 18.79 percent.
