S.A. - R. City Insurance is a 100% Romanian non-life insurance company. S.A. - R. City Insurance was established in 1998. The company was founded by a group of Romanian investors, comprised of natural and legal persons. Once Romania joined the European Union, the company extended its activity beyond national borders. In 2008, City Insurance became the first insurance company in Romania to develop its activity in E.U. member states and sell specific products internationally, based on the principle of free movement for Community goods and services. In 2009, City Insurance adopted a new strategy: it developed its product portfolio and expanded in order to target neighboring segments of the insurance market. As part of the same strategy, in autumn 2009, S.A. - R. City Insurance participated at the establishment of the Natural Disaster Insurance Pool - PAID. The company considered the project of mandatory home insurance to be important and consequently became a shareholder of PAID. Thus, the company is motivated to develop, in parallel, competitive voluntary home insurance products. These products complement the mandatory policy that covers three major risks: earthquake, floods and landslides. Since the end 2009, City Insurance is authorized to sell mandatory motor third party liability policies - MTPL. Thus, since 2010, the company offers its clients a complete range of insurance products and services. Due to the growing importance of the Internet, in 2011 the company launched the CitySmart.ro website. It is an online sales system for specialized insurance products and it targets both the business and private sectors. The careful administration of its own resources, the coherent management, the compliance with market indicators and the constant care for clients’ needs made City Insurance rapidly follow an ascending path. The company’s performances were recognized through its inclusion in the Top 10 Romanian Insurance Companies in 2012.
