Main Activities: EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION ROMPETROL EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION is focused on the Caspian Sea region and Ecuador. The company concentrates mainly on exploitation projects that have significant upside exploration potential. REFINING & PETROCHEMICALS Built in 1904, Vega refinery was taken over by Rompetrol in 1999 due to its position on the market as sole producer of specific products, such as special Boiling Point Spirits polymerization solvents, bitumen's and bituminous emulsions. Currently Vega processes 10,000 b/d (40,000 t/mo or 500,000 t/yr. crude oil and 120,000 t/yr. other feedstock's) and is focused on core specialty products: solvents, ceresin, pharmaceutical salves, exhaust catalysts for cars, heating oils. Sole producer of bitumen's in Romania, Vega is the country's most flexible refinery to date and no.1 in point of profit margins. In 2001, Vega merged via absorption with Rompetrol S.A., under the internationally established brand name of Rompetrol S.A. TRADING & MARKETING ROMPETROL TRADING & MARKETING, through its specialists in barter and counter trade, participates actively in niche oil and gas markets throughout the Balkans and the wider Black Sea basin. ROMPETROL TRADING & MARKETING trades a wide variety of products, including gasoline's, middle distillates, jet fuel, fuel oils (both cracked and straight run) as well as petrochemical feedstock, gas oil, specialty solvents, bitumen and industrial catalysts produced by TRG refineries, PETROMIDIA and VEGA. ROMPETROL TRADING & MARKETING also supplies, trades and processes crude oil, petroleum products, petrochemicals and natural gas. DRILLING ROMPETROL DRILLING is a member of IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) and RADC (Romanian Association of Drilling Contractors) and is a prominent player in the drilling sector in many emerging markets.
