The gambling industry brings EUR 700m to Romania’s economy

In 2012, the slot machines and fixed-odds betting industry brought EUR 709m to the Romanian GDP, thus creating 38,500 jobs and contributed EUR 333m to budget revenues through taxes and rates, according to a study conducted by PwC Romania.

‘The overall conclusion of the study conducted by PwC in December 2013 is that, even in the context of the market contraction caused by the crisis and the legal changes that took place in 2009, these sectors of the gambling industry have a significant impact on the national economy, sustaining tens of thousands of work places’, declared Bogdan Belciu, Partner, Management Consultancy Services and coordinator of the study.
